This object is part of Schaaf no. 520

Reduced copy of a hand-coloured lithograph of a hieroglyphic tablet showing Ra, the Egyptian sun god

Keywords: Egypt Egyptology

The lithograph is by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850), after the original artwork by George Scharf (1788-1860). It shows Ra, the Egyptian sun god, and is from Somerset Lowry-Corry, 2nd Earl of Belmore's, "Collection of Egyptian Antiquities" (London, 1822). A copy of the original publication which includes the lithograph is held by the New York Public Library. Presumably Talbot had a copy in his library at Lacock Abbey from which he would have taken the page to copy photographically.
