Broad Quay with St. Stephen's Church, Bristol

Location: Bristol

Keywords: Panorama

This photograph forms a panorama with Schaaf no. 2863 displaying a view towards Bristol from Broad Quay. A drawbridge, I Walter (later Stockdale and Co) and Williams buildings can be seen in the foreground and St Stephen's Church in the background.

This view of Bristol can be roughly dated from between 1841 to 1849 by the presence of the Cork Tavern in Schaaf no. 2863, which was owned by John Kinrade between those dates.  Both Talbot and Calvert Jones are known to have visited Bristol around 1844 which fits within that date range.  Part of the row of buildings the Cork Tavern belongs to were demolished in 1850, which also supports the above suggested date range.

The panorama photographs of Calvert Richard Jones feature in a Talbot project post
